Our Act of Remembrance and Dedication held at St Faith’s Church was very special indeed for us at Shellingford. We have received many comments from parents and the local community commending the school on such a memorable and moving service. Two Year 6 pupils read beautifully during the service, and our youngest pupil and oldest pupil in the school laid a poppy wreath at the front of the church. Our school choir sang ‘Crying out for Love’ and the whole school sang ‘We Are One.’
The service was led by Licensed Lay Minister Miss Beryl Packer and we were fortunate to have The Royal British Legion in attendance who were extremely impressed with the children’s conduct. We were all very proud of them. A total of £91.60 was collected for The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. We do hope that the Royal British Legion can be involved in our future Acts of Remembrance to help the children understand the significance of honouring those who have died in service of our country.
